Ok , coming down at the weekend ,what flies do i want . will be boating with Robin haywood ,will be in Chew lodge 9 ish so if you want to slip me some specials go ahead ,I am the handsome one with the long hair and the catweasle beard Andy.............. Apparently the boats have been doing quite well along Woodford Bank and literally just out from the jetty I reckon you could do a lot worse than a team of 3: Sz 10 Black&Green buzzer on the point Sz 14 Red Holo cheeked Diawl Bach 1st Dropper Sz 16 Jungle Cock cheeked Diawl Bach. Top Dropper leader needs to be longer than around 10 - 12 ' Best of luck Andy. Let us know how you do C.B

Fished wick green tonight for 3 hours, was determined to stick with nymphs and buzzers , made a decision to stick to them and try and resist the sinker as i need the practice. obviously not a good decision as i blanked again,im on a hatrick ;D. the only other bank angler had 3 on lures on a sinking line and the boats were getting into some all on lures. Was just a slight breeze with flat spells but still only saw a couple of fish on the top. Some idiot came right into the bank on a boat , thought there was a certain rule about getting to close to bank anglers , to be honest the other boats were moaning at them too for getting to close Anyhow ill let you know when i next blank ;D ,.funny enough i dont mind blanking, as chews such a nice place to fish, had a pike nearly bump into me while i was wading.

Blanks are things nobody likes but on big waters like Chew and Blagdon, they're a fact of life I guess. I always think that the worst thing about blanking is the knock on effect it has on your next trip. Confidence is a big issue with us guys and blanks do nothing to help it If things get really tough and I have more than a few blanks on the trot, I'll visit a small water just to get my confidence back C.B

Shurly the effect of harder fishing just makes you go through your lines and fly choice with more intent than normal, bit boring if a team of buzzers or db's catch everytime and the good old black and green in the spring pulls them out...arnt we all her for the challenge...i managed a 3lb 8oz from chew cpl weeks ago in the minor RAF comp and was chuffed to hell with the fight on a di5 up near the reserve, and another on a neutral anti wake and black buzzer off the lodge front a few hours later...two extremes of lines and flys to prove large waters need different approaches in different areas so lets not whinge about the lack of fish but lets get our fingers out and just try that bit harder and maybe learn something new...

One that did really well last year, under body red tying thread over body black tying thread leave a small red but approx 2 millimetre, fine silver wire rib over black, orange goose biot cheeks. You will love it fished static. BB

Had a late session this evening from 7pm to 9pm fishing Herons. The wind was from the west and was almost perfect for swinging a buzzer and Diawl Bach around on the breeze but I had just one pull and was daydreaming at the time and so I missed it. However there were definitely fish out there to be caught as towards dusk the wind dropped and three or four fish were nymphing just 10 yards or so out from me. They weren't interested in my offerings though. Allrounder ;D

z 10 Black&Green buzzer on the point dressing wise ,where does the green go ,and which green??? Andy. I don't believe that the dressing is that crucial. The buzzers I've been using are of the skinny type. A single wrap of 8/0 thread and a very thin green rib ( single strand of Flashabou) The wing cases are green holographic. Hope you have a really good day C.B
