I am fishing the semi at Carron Toshy so it will need to be clarified before we get out on the water....I fished it on Sunday night and had a few fish.. the guy at the boats was telling us that there is no more stock going into the water until after the national heats.... so here `s hoping it fishes well. not sure if there are any SANA guys fishiong the semi there....

The hole issue stinks and doesn’t do Scottish competition angling any good

It's fair to say that SANA don't seem to have learned the art of being impartial... allegedly, or maybe they've learned the art of selective impartiality... allegedly! They certainly haven't learned the art of listening to its members, or being in tune with the feelings of its members. However, I don't think the problem is unique to SANA Lack of empathy with the broader membership and being rotten to the core is common to most organisations that are run by members who have ascended through the ranks, as it were. There are many reasons for this and including: a lack of understanding what professionalism means and the desire to build and protect empires. Anybody who holds a high position in any organisation should remember that they are there to serve the organisation and its members. The problem is that most of these geeks think the organisation is there for their benefit. Anybody who puts their own self-interest before that of the organisation and its members, has no place in the organisation never mind a position of trust. I will, however, remind you all that we live in a democracy and we have the power to remove these people from office and call them to question about their actions and motives whenever we please. If we have a beef and we do nothing, we're part of the problem, and the self-perpetuating, self-congratulating egomaniacs that make up these individuals just go on and on doing as they please. If we can't do so using the constitution, then the organisation is undemocratic and illegal! Why do you think charges of bringing an organisation into disrepute for speaking ones mind is common in most organisations? Now I'm not saying for one second that anybody in SANA falls into the above category, I'm sure the people who run our (and I repeat... OUR) organisation are the very best we deserve. AB

Hi, I don’t like SANA. I don’t think they are good for Scottish fishing. I would like to see an English style organization like the Scottish Association of Fly fishers/Anglers.

3lb Grayling, by the tone of your post it sounds to me that you are a member of SANA, and you agree that there is a problem over this issue...... if this is correct can you confirm that the rules that where used at Carron will be applied to every venue in the semi`s..... I think someone from SANA should clarify the position for the semi`s

I think someone from SANA should clarify the position for the semi`s sorry to mislead you ,i'm only a club member of sana .gave up my individual membership a few years ago.the reason i said "we need to get our house in order " is that i believe that it reflects v-badly on scotland in the international scene.i know some of the guys in sana and there nice guys.but it just seems to go from one crisis to another.not helped by the split in comp section-ordinary section. and its broke!,allegedly.the angling clubs dont back it to any decent financial level.so i think that ,we the scottish anglers need to get together and decide if we want a decent orginisation to represent us,it could be so much better with only small improvements.well !!! jim

Cut-off weight was 2lb 14oz. I had 2 for 1lb 12oz so no fun day at leven for me this year!!!
Neil from SANA mentioned that the place hadn't been stocked for two or three weeks.........the owner looked barely appeased cos not a lot of fish were caught.

Fished Carron dam today 26th June. Conditions bright at times but warm with a moderate west- turning swest wind. Only seen 5 or 6 rises all day which is very unusual in itself. Finished with three stockies for 3lb but where are the wildies. Only sport I had was pulling lures and at this time of year it should be top of the water. The 1 thing I did notice was the water level is the highest I have ever seen it at this time of year going over the dam wall a few days ago. Has this current changeable weather affected top of the water on most places or just a few?
