I think the stretch below Hexham bridge belongs to Hexham Anglers but i'm not 100% sure.
If you want anymore info on any of the above clubs / stretches just send me a PM / email.

Some catch information I have received via email :
A friend of mine (Nick Sayer) fished with us in the Buchanan Party at Redeswood and then fished a syndicate stretch on the South Tyne, I think called Lambley? Not sure of the beat name. Anyway on Tuesday on the South he had salmon of 21lbs and 12lbs and sea trout of 5lbs and 4.5lbs all on flying C. On Wednesday he had another salmon of 9-10lbs, again on the old condom. This was Nick’s first trip to the Tyne and he had a great time and hopes to join us again next year.
We had another salmon in the Buchanan party, which was not listed. It was a 10.5lb cock salmon caught by David Banks and was his first salmon and came to a toby.

River levels update :
Main Tyne (Bywell) : 0.03mts above summer level, steady. North Tyne (Riverhill) : 0.03mts below summerlevel, steady. South Tyne (Featherstone) : 0.25mts above summer level, steady.
There has been a good few fish taken on the lower river since the levels have dropped.
I witnessed a salmon taken on the BWAC stretch on saturday and then netted and returned a coloured cock fish of around 15lb for an angler on the 'Fed water at Merryshields. The same angler was back on sunday afternoon and hooked another four salmon, two of which were lost all on a orange shrimp fly.
I have also been informed that fish have been caught every day for the last week at Wylam.

29-09-04 An update taken from www.tynefishing.comNo dam release as yet Bad news for anyone who was planning a trip down to the North Tyne this morning as Kielder have not released a 10.5cmps although the answer phone message has not changed. I will keep you updated on any developments as they happen!... As soon as the water level dropped to 1.5cmps last week the catches stopped and the last recorded catch from a hotel resident was on the 23rd of September. I fished on Saturday with my brother on the Tarset beat and although we saw plenty of fish there was little chance of hooking in the low water. The south Tyne fished on for a couple of days longer with rumours of one chap catching 11 fish in a day but even that river has dropped away now. There will be 16 very unhappy residents this morning when they look at the water and i am hoping the release appears today at some point. I have never known a scheduled release be more than 24 hours late!. Nothing else to report i am afraid. -------------------------------------------------------------------- With the low water conditions I would expect the lower river beats to be fishing well. I should be back out on the river again thursday and will report back then.

Catch update taken from local press report.
Bywell's salmon spree on the Tyne Sep 30 2004 By David Carrick, The Evening Chronicle It just gets better and better on Bywell Syndicate's main Tyne beat.
Fishing has been excellent again this week. Bywell's total for salmon is now a staggering 462 fish plus 110 sea-trout.
Saturday accounted for 30 fish, 28 of them salmon - 27 caught on fly.
The Tyne's run of fish is a real credit to Peter Gray, the man behind the Kielder Hatchery success that has brought the Tyne salmon back with a vengeance. What an advert for re-stocking the Kielder hatchery has become!
Among the catches at Bywell were four on fly for Urwin Wood from Scots Gap. Joe Hogg of Wallsend caught five fish to 18lb on fly at Upper Church, while Ian Henderson of Corbridge took seven fish to 18lb on fly at Lower Church and Island.
Paul Ryder of Whitley Bay caught four salmon to 14lb on fly at the Pipeline and Brian Hankin from Bishop Auckland caught three salmon to 15lb on fly, all returned, while Mark Hewitt's party from Essex had 11 salmon to 16lb on fly.
Norman Pattinson of Stocksfield had five fish to 18lb spinning at Beeches while George Nicholson of Wallsend had three fish to 18lb at Island.
Reg Arkle of Dinnington caught three salmon of 5lb, 7lb and 7lb on fly, while Tow Law angler Colin Wilkinson had three fish to 18lb at Upper Church on fly.
Fly anglers have caught fish using Red Ally's Shrimp with gold or copper bodies in sizes 8 and 10. The Cascade has also figured in catches in sizes down to 14.
Floating lines with sinking leaders or sink tips have proved most effective. Anglers on the Farnley Estate beat have also had sport. Stuart Rose from Leeds took fish of 12lb, 10lb and two at 8lb, all on fly. Ken Harrison of Stocksfield had fish of 16lb and 10lb.
On Tyneside Anglers Syndicate waters Steve Rae from Barnard Castle landed a cracking 20lb salmon on a Rapala and his fishing companion Alan Oliver had a sea-liced 9lb salmon on fly. George Kuczera from Haddington took salmon of 14lb, 12lb and two at 6lb off the South Tyne. Scott Williams of Redcar caught a 9lb salmon on an Ally's Shrimp and Gareth Black of Ryton landed a 5lb 8oz grilse also on an Ally's and followed up with a 12lb 8oz salmon off the Coquet. Steve Beckinsale of Sunderland caught salmon of 8lb 8oz and 11 lb 8oz on a Garry variant.
Out on NERAC waters, Steve Hutchinson of Callerton Village reports 36 fish for the season so far, 27 of which were returned.
Largest reported was 22lb. Steven Miler of Newbrough Village caught a 9lb sea trout and a 7lb salmon on a No. 2 Mepps off the Lower South Tyne. Tony Rogers from Chester caught a 10lb salmon on a No. 3 Gold Mepps.
Meanwhile, John Johnson of Matfen won the NERTAC salmon competition with a 17lb fish. Other fish reported include an 18lb salmon for John Teal from York and a 17lb salmon for Kevin Foster from Throckley. Fourteen-year-old Dean Foster from Newbrough caught a 14lb sea-trout while Gordon Gladstone of Rowlands Gill had a 7lb salmon.

06/10/04 An update taken from www.tynefishing.comBetween the 24th and the 30th September when Kielder were releasing 1.5cmps and with no fresh rain water in the river, not one fish was landed on hotel beats. As soon as the dam release increased to 10.5cmps the catches started again with the following. 30th- Tarset 10lb salmon 1st- Redeswood 3 salmon 6lb, 7lb & 8lb and 3 sea trout 2 at 5lb and one at 3lb / Newton 2 salmon both at 8lb 2nd- Redeswood 2 salmon 12lb & 6lb and 3 sea trout 3lb, 4lb & 5lb 3rd- Tarset- 6 sea trout between 2 & 4lb / Newton 12lb salmon and 3lb sea trout 4th- Newton 16lb salmon It was surprising to sea a fish landed yesterday as the river was high and coloured and it could be hard going again today. The amount of water released from Kielder is due to change at 7.30am on Thursday and if it were a usual year i would say they would drop the flow to 1.5cmps. However this year anything could happen and with any luck they will increase the flow to 15cmps. I have updated the remaining rods section of the site and although there is little left there are the odd gaps. I would be interested to hear how many fish are being landed both up and down the North Tyne and would appreciate any emails from fellow enthusiasts. LATEST 5pm Gordon Parkin has just been on the phone reporting that conditions at Redeswood today were near perfect but the water has started rising again. His party today landed 5 salmon from 5-18lb and 8 sea trout from 2-5lb. Party member Paul lancaster had his first ever salmon, one very clean at 5lb from the Rede and one at 18lb returned. Well done Paul.

07-10-04 Another update taken from www.tynefishing.comThe dam release from Kielder dropped to 1.5cmps at 7.30am this morning but will increase to 15.5cmps from Sunday 10th October until further notice. 15.5cmps is my favourite release from Kielder and provided there is not too much fresh on top then next week looks like being another good one for hotel residents. On Tuesday 5th Martin Fenwick and his pal landed 3 salmon of 8, 10 & 12lb and a 2.5lb sea trout in one hour between 9.30 - 10.30am. There catch was on Tarset beat and as the river was rising quickly, they left the river at 10.30 as it was no longer fishable. Meanwhile on Newton Jenifer Sawyer was landing her first ever salmon on a fly of 6.5lb. Not only did she land the sparkling clean fish on her own but looked up to see a rainbow and a deer on the hill, fantastic!. Jenifer went on to land a sea trout also. Yesterday at Redeswood Tony Wright landed two salmon of 7lb & 8lb and a sea trout and Darren Brown landed a 10lb salmon and a 3lb sea trout. At Newton in gale force winds Jenifer was up to it again catching a 6lb salmon. Those of you who read this report on a regular basis will remember Agent X (Tim Smith) fishing from the hotel in May and landing a spanking salmon from Chester's. Tim wrote a great 6 page glossy article about fishing from Riverdale in the 'Today's Flyfisher Mag (September issue). Anyway Tim is here doing a follow up article with a colleague and yesterday fished on Tarset. I have not spoken to him or Robert the gillie as yet but Robert's wife informs me that they landed 6 salmon and lost the same amount on a purple fly tied by Robert. I will confirm this as soon as i have full details.

Another update taken from local press report :
Spate of salmon on cards Oct 7 2004 By David Carrick, The Evening Chronicle Local rivers came away in spate again on Monday and the Tyne was carrying a metre of extra water while the Wear was up around two feet.
The Coquet also had water, as did the Tees and this extra water will bring in runs of autumn salmon to all of our rivers.
Some good fish were seen running the Coquet at Pauperhaugh on Monday, so rods should do well in the upper reaches of the river.
Prospects look very good for the weekend.
Among catches on the Tyne was a 17lb salmon caught by Richard Phillipson of Haltwhistle and one of 14lb caught by Ivan Banks, also of Haltwhistle.
Out on NERAC Waters, Gordon Gladstone of Rowlands Gill landed a 7lb grilse, while Dave Toland of Forest Hall took a 20lb salmon on fly off the Lower South Tyne.
Dougie Thompson of Rowlands Gill caught a sea-liced 7lb grilse on the Lower South Tyne.
Dave Toland was out again on the Federation waters catching salmon of 8lb and 13lb.
How many times do anglers say it is about being in the right place at the right time?
One angler did just that last week on the Federation waters, catching seven fish while another four anglers close by caught nothing.
N It is great to hear about huge salmon being caught and last week it was the turn of the Yorkshire Esk to hit the headlines.
Ian Howlett fished the Egton Estates water and caught a 32lb salmon on a Stoats Tail. The fish measured 42½ inches long and had a girth of 29 inches.
It just so happens that Peter Gray from Kielder hatchery has had a hand in the recovery of the Yorkshire Esk as well as the Tyne.
He has been rearing on young Yorkshire Esk salmon at Kielder and then returning them to the Esk.
His know-how is already bearing fruit on the Yorkshire salmon river as more fish have been caught this year than for many a year.

a testiment to the ongoing recovery of english rivers i hope.
i'm curious - how much does the fishing at places like bywell or tarset cost, is it cheaper/comparable to scotland or ireland ?

10-10-04 Current river levels : Main Tyne (Bywell) = 0.15mts above summer level (steady). North Tyne (Riverhill) = 0.08mts above summer level (steady). South Tyne (Featherstone) = 0.14mts above summer level (steady). The current Kielder release is either 10.5cmps (according to EA river levels line) or 15.5cmps (according to Northumbrian Water release line) from 13.30hrs today. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- GB Thanks for the positive comments although I must admit the hard work is done by others. We have been lucky this year with the amount of rain we have had, as this has prevented a repeat of last season when 2000+ fish died in the tidal stretch in low water conditions. The Bywell syndicate stretch of the main Tyne costs somewhere in the region of £700 - 800 per season for a named day each week. Beats like Tarset / Redeswood / Newton etc on the North Tyne are available to day tickets / weeks booked in advance through the Riverdale Hall Hotel. See www.tynefishing.com for more details / prices etc. How prices compare to rivers in Scotland / Ireland - Well i'm not really sure to be honest, the Tyne can be excellent on its day (as a couple members of this forum can vouch for), but it still has a long way to go before its a match for some of the Scottish / Irish rivers but hopefully with a lot of luck and a lot of hard work it might start to get there.

Hi Dave - No disrespect but Im a Scot who fishes the N Tyne as well as several Scottish rivers( and has fished the Moy) and you have nothing to worry about in terms of cost or value. I would also hazard a guess that the average weight of salmon will be one of the highest in Britain Although Ive not fished the Tweed or Spey in recent years I would place the N Tyne EASILY in the top 3 BRITISH RIVERS for salmon andthe sea trout run is also very impressive
