By chance, i met Allrounder yesterday on the banks of the north shore. This was this first time I had been out for 12 days as I confess my last blank at Chew knocked some of the stuffing out of me. Now I can take my fair share of blanks without complaint but my diary tells the tale for April 11 trips totalling 42 hours with just 7 trout and 2 pike to show for it. Not only is that less than a fish every 4 hours but it is probably less than a pull every four hours as well. Anyway I started off for an hour at Herons at Chew. Loads of Hawthorn Fly with the wind blowing off the bank and a very occasional rising fish but despite throwing all the usual patterns at them including a hawthorn fly fished wet and dry, not a sniff! The session had 'blank' written all over it again so I decided to try Blagdon. I checked the wind direction by the gate at Rugmoor and it was blowing left to right so drove right up to the top car park where - you've guessed it! - the wind had changed and was blowing straight into my face. Tried a few casts but it was hopeless. On the way back I passed a solitary figure fishing then realised there was no car on the bank and realised it was Trout! ;D I tried a few casts with him then we noticed the angler on Pegs had packed in so we strapped the rods to the car and just got there in time as another car came through the gate. Although the wind was quite fresh to start with it dropped for the last hour or so and swung around to a lovely left to right which made for almost perfect conditions for swinging a team of buzzers around. ;D ;D Buzzers started to hatch on cue and we looked forward to a wonderful evening sport but the strange thing was that hardly any fish showed on the surface. I counted just 6 rises all evening and I suspect some of those were multiple rises from the same fish. I was fortunate enough to get one pull and one fish of about 1-12-0 which put up a very good fight and when I spooned it I found it was full of daphnia with not a single buzzer to be found. I'll be glad when they realise that they can eat buzzers as well as daphnia. Allrounder ;D

sorry to confuse you guys :-[but it was caught from jacklands down at tickenham.my neighbour had bought a new greys trout rod which he wanted to christen and seeing we only had a few hours, decided to go for the easiest option .although its classed as easy fishing everyone was struggling to catch.well,my neighbour was casting out when all of a sudden "crack" £260 worth of fishing rod broke half way up the blank, not at the joint .well that was that!! (it was only a day old).any way back to some proper fishing tommorow at the barrow tanks.probably no1 and maybe try no 3 aswell.are you going blobmancometh?.vic(flyinthehedge)give me a call or personal message.once again sorry any confusion .tight lines.blondie

I got out from about 6-8:30 last nite, tried ash trees and pegs. Not a pull. Its very calm out there (slight ripple on parts of the lake) so i might give north shore a go up on one of the banks. Wish me luck

Just got back from 5 hours fishing.......
2 of us on north shore, he had 5 fish using static barrow mouse. I forgot my sinker, and my intermediate wouldnt pull the mouse down. i tried everything, but didnt have a @#%*£ touch!
I saw a small fish jump in the margins (few oz's) then a pike chase after it! I didnt see the pike, but it must have been big due to the waves it made!

BF, if you want my advice, go to Burton Springs.
Its the nicest little fishery there is!
Fish freely rising, Clear waters and good fighting fish.
I dont think i have heard a bad word about it!
I think its £12 for all day C&R, or £14 for two fish. Im not sure, but C.B will give you all the info you need,
Check the link under his post, its Butron Springs homepage!

Hi Blondie. It was good Mate. To be fair the venue and it's facilities were better than the fishing. I had 2 very low twenties and so didn't beat my personal best. One of the lads had a thirty. It was bloody hot and when I see you next remind me to tell you the story about the blocked toilet C.B
