Well I'd almost forgotten what a beautiful place Blagdon is to not catch fish ;D Fished up and down the whole of the North Shore this morning from 7.30 till a half an hour ago and didn't get a pull There was a massive Buzzer hatch real 'Smoke on the water ' stuff but the fish were having none of it Tried all shapes and sizes of Buzzers and D.B's under a bung, washing line, you name it. They were really off. 4 other anglers along the North Shore and not a pull between us. Butcombe wan't fishing either as a guy I spoke to had come over the Peg's after nothing all along Butcombe. It was basically one of those days when the fish were just not going to switch on. But, as I said a beautiful place to be and not catch C.B

How disapointing, just as i thought it was starting to pick up a little....
I shall be out at some point during the weekend, lets hope we get some good weather, good hatches, and possibly a fish or two!

I took a boat out at Blagdon on Tuesday, full of expection as I haven't fished there for about 7 years. Quite a few buzzers flying about and loads of shucks on the water, but did I see a single fish rise all day - not one!
However I did manage to winkle out two rainbows (one nicely overwintered), but only when I changed over to a fine tippet (well 6lb is fine for me!). Cauught both on the point fly - one took a Cruncher (at Top End) and the other a red diawl bach in Butcombe Bay. Only had two other takes all day!
Two strange things though. (1) There was a petrol engined boat zig-zag'ing across the lake for most of the day - looked like it was surveying or something. Anybody know what it was doing? (2) The overwintered fish was stuffed full of small cream chunks of flesh. They looked a bit like snail or freshwater mussel flesh, but there was no broken shell - bizarre! Any ideas?

I fished it for 2 hours last nite, along the north shore.
Just the one pull on a DB, some other people had been at pegs and not had a touch!
Quite a few fish rising within casting range, but most fish out at the ripple.

hi trout.it was the same on no 3 last wed.huge swarms of black buzzers .not a fish to be seen.i wonder if there feeding on ample supplies of daphina .most fish that ive spooned since the begining of the season have been stuffed with the stuff.is that the reason? .tight lines.blondie.

That's a god point Steve. I know that trout can become quite obsessed with Daphnia and the only thing that can 'match that hatch' is a Blob Must try that C.B
