Been out six times now in the last two weeks in search of the Seatrout in the Corwen area, there are quite a few about, I have so far managed to bank four, all fish of 1lb 4oz to 1lb10oz...have hooked and lost another five , better quality fish in the 2lb to 4lb range, these have taken the fly and immediately cartwheeled across the pool and off. We desperately need a flood to liven things up.

Grayling,
Nice work - are you catching the sea trout around dusk or when it is dark, say after 10.00pm?

Elwyman
Between 10pm and 12m, will have to try later one night, but last couple of nights have not bothered, stars and mist coming off the river, Have found that cloud cover is very important and also a mid fifties temperature, farenheit ofcourse

Fished the Tyfos beat this week, not a lot rising and not a trout to be seen. I had loads of Grayling between 3oz and 1½lb though.

Bugsy,
Great, what did you catch them on?, we had about 1" of rain overnight, that's put three inches on the river, wish we'd had 2" so that we could have had a flood.

What clubs can people recommend for fishing for salmon, on the Dee? I am in both Prince Albert and the Wirral Gamefishers. The Wirral have better water than the Albert although the PAAS water produces around 100 salmon per year with the Turn o Dee producing most fish although the relatively new Boat Inn stretch may prove as good. The Wirral water is much better generally and their stretches at Chirk and Corwen are particularly good. The Wirral costs about twice the PAAS sub but for Cheshire/Welsh based anglers offers excellent fishing on the Welsh Dee, Conwy, Lledr, Elwy, Clwyd, and also permanent day tickets on Brenig. Their policy is continuous improvement and as better waters become available the worst/least popular water is dropped in favour of it. I used to have a rod on the renowned Clwyd/Elwy junction pool and gave this up in favour of the Wirral ticket and never regretted it.
