Fished below Corwen for a couple of hours this afternoon. Saw a salmon jump, about 7-8lb weight. Which stretch did you fish Elwyman?.......My guess is that Corwen will see its first fish caught this week, if not, certainly next week Bugsy

Wirral Game at Rhaggat Hall.
My mate has just joined Corwen DAC. He was out scouting at the old Berwyn Arms stretch and a fisherman there said he had seen a salmon too. River was rising slightly after the thunder storm.
What would you say are the best gauge heights for salmon/fly at Corwen?

What would you say are the best gauge heights for salmon/fly at Corwen? Elwyman, I have to say that I really don't have a clue. I simply look at a few rocks, stones etc and see how submerged they are. However different beats fish at different heights. I would be more than happy to assist with specifics. Bugsy

Fished for a few hours near Corwen this afternoon. Water looked lovely, about 670 on the gauge with a tinge of colour.
Saw a Kingfisher, but no salmon around except for a 6" parr that gobbled my tube fly.

Any telephone numbers for WGA, or any trout fishing clubs on the Dee wanted (live on the Wirral). Tried the Avon last week and fell in love with river fishing.

WGA and Corwen Club web sites are below. There is a waiting list for WGA, but I think there are vacancies for Corwen - ring Gordon Smith (01824 710 609) for joining details: www.wirralgame.org/www.cadac.org.uk/Corwen have the better water on the Dee for trout and grayling.

Fished Corwen today, water was a bit coloured. Sat and watched two very good anglers catch some very good trout and grayling. Note to self, when your nuts are wet you have gone too deep for thigh waders. ;D Cheers fellas, see you soon. ;D

A trout angler caught an 8 1/2lb sea trout from Rhaggat, at dusk. Took him some time to land it on 4lb tippet! Superb EM ..........great to hear. There are apparently far more Sea Trout and Salmon entering the system this season than in 04........and 04 was a great season. An interesting situation has developed this year. Grayling no.'s are currently down, however the WILD Brown population is on the increase. Bugsy
