Following the thread on Bolle sunglasses, just thought I'd post a few positive comments on a pair of Bolle Boomslangs I've just taken receipt of from Teifi Terrorist. Very nice glasses - excellent clarity. It's funny but I'd always used cheapo ones before under the impression that they were fine - however, the difference between my old airflo's and the Bolles is substantial - if you're even half thinking about it, have a word with Teifi Terrorist, I think he has a few pairs left. PS - sorry if anyone thinks this should have been in Classifieds

Hi All,
I too recently purchased a pair of these glasses mainly as a result of rave rewiews on here. I have to say that they havent really lived up to expectations. In terms of cutting out glare they are only marginally better, if at all, than the no brand ten quid ones I had already. The difference certainly doesn't account for the fact that they cost 5 times more. I also found them to be fairly flimsy and light, they actually have a bit of a cheap feel off them. That will teach me to go believing the hype.
Cheers,
S

Hi Tigermoth, thanks for the trade, and thanks for the feedback - sorry that you are taking crap because of it. If taggarc and braveheart have something to say perhaps they would like to voice their opinions here? As they seem to be insinuating, especially bravheart, that they are not genuine Extremely liable insinuations at that. TT.

Sorry for the misunderstanding TT, my reply was intended for swiftys benefit who's experience with Bolle's is contradictory to mine. As I know mines are genuine Bolle's I can only assume that swifty may have been duped.

Swifty - did you get the ones with the sandstone lenses or some other version from e-bay? I only asked a question and one which I have an interest in. Why because I have had 3 pairs of Bolle Boomslangs with the sandstone lenses and found them to be excellent. These are the lenses they usually come with if you buy them from a tackle shop. However, I have noted that when you see them on e-bay (which i buy a lot of my gear from) they typically don't come with he sandstone lenses! Indeed, I have just oredered another pair as back-up and potentially to put prescription lenses in for less than 30 pounds from the US, including delivery to the UK. "You are bidding on brand new, never used Polarized Bolle Boomslang Sunglasses in black with polarized INX lenses, as seen in the picture. They come in the original Bolle packaging with the case and the manual. These sunglasses are absolutely flawless, have no scratches, and are not factory seconds"

Hi All,
Yes I am sure they are genuine and they are the sandstone ones. My point is that to my mind they do not represent value in the sense that they are not substantially better than ones that cost five times less, either in their ability too cut out glare or their build quality.
I am no expert on polaroids and am only reporting my own experience of the product in an honest way. The boomslangs do function well as a pair of polaroids just not as well as I expected based on what I read here.
I would add though that I once had a try of a pair of Australian Spotters Polaroids, they cost a little bit more than bolle. I was very impressed with both their ability to cut out glare and the build quality. They don't seem to be sold over here though.
Cheers,
S

I have just purchased some Coachwips with the sandstone lenses from an internet company mentioned in the previous post on Bolle`s. Now these were a good price at £30 but to be honest I am not that impressed with their optical clarity. This may well be down to me because I am that age where I could really do with prescription lenses but compared to, dare I say it my Airflow pp wraparounds, or just not wearing any glasses, these new Bolle`s definately blur things. I am wondering if they are definately genuine as taggarc mentions he had a manual with his and although they came in a bolle box there was no manual. Interestingly if you look at the lenses and catch the light right, a pattern with a cross can be seen in the middle of the lens. Does anyone know if you can get Bolle`s with prescription lenses? John Horsey used to do them but he finished this side some time ago.

PS I think I have had glasses which I have bought from UK tackle shops with the polarized sandstone lenses and they didn't come with a so called manual. Just a box, a neoprene case and cloth!
