Fred Hi Fred, long time no talk , they have just droped the flow on the Deschutes this weekend to normal levels. The trout fishing has been good even with all the high water we have been picking up some nice fish . I will send you an e-mail,tight lines, brian

Excellent Braveheart. That was a hilarious scene from a memorable film - sorry Gander!

I am advised as to my English (which I admit is not my first language) by someone with a name that is grammatically incorrect? Widdowson?
p.s Freda Evans is back on here and already recommending posts of the year? Chutzpah! I could be more impolite.

I doubt that you, or any of the others who insist that only 'correct' English usage is acceptable on these boards, would walk into a pub full of strangers or someones house and criticise their use of English, yet you obviously believe that such anti-social behaviour is acceptable in this place. He does, regularly.

They don't seem to teach them 'spellinks' in early schooling like they used to Spy1

Hi Cothi, thewidowsson is only a nom de plume, grammatical correctness does not come into the equation when using it as such. It is off to Afghanistan for you. thewidowsson.

A nom de plume is no excuse for a reduction in standards. Anyway, I'd probably find better English with Johnny Afghan than I find on these pages.

Enjoying your wind ups as ever Cothi. I'm afraid I'm of the same ilk. I hear echoes of my old English teacher ( grammar school in the 70s) when I'm correcting the spelling/punctuation/grammar of my kid's homework. I was lucky enough to receive a high standard of education back then. It seems only those who can afford the private sector can have a similar standard these days.
