We've no decided if we are goin tae fish off the boats yet, although Martha has you booked for the Sunday, I'll just sort myself oot at the time. See you all there, no long tae go now! The Pirate

Chris, my entry is correct for the Friday. Thanks.
P.S. This thread is a perfectly valid use of the forum. Grouse, whilst I have the utmost respect for your fishing knowledge, your posts here are the antithesis of your usual constructive and welcome comments.
I couldn't give a fig if Chris runs another forum. If he wants to do it then it's a free internet as far as I'm concerned and good luck to him. Lets just not let it have a negative influence on the quality of this one eh?
I usually fish rivers for brownies but I'm taking this opportunity to meet a few more people from the forum and I welcome Chris' efforts.

Do you have a moter for the boat Chris or shall we sort one out. TobyM Good point. I don't have a motor and I dunno who I'm sharing a boat with yet (may even end up on my own looking at the odd numbers for Friday!). Do you know if you can hire the battery powered ones anywhere?

Electric Motors can be hired from:
Blagdon Engine Hire.
Ask for Andy or Debs
01761 463211
07766 022726.
It's best to ring early evening as Andy and Debs both work during the day.
I think they're Minkota's and come with 2 batteries.

Thanks. What sort of nymphs? I'm taking buzzers and diawl bach. Mind you I've only fished a Rezzie once and all my fish came on boobies, thus I probably wouldn't listen to me. I watched Spider take a nice fish on a red spot diawl bach (we were sharing a boat) and found I didn't have any which was frustrating, I've got some now but thwy're probably out of fashion. Thats me and Tom sorted for boat partners on the Friday. I like the mystery of finding a boat partner on the day, I met some cool people ay Eyebrook all of who help my beginners technique. I'm still working on making a boat rock like KevZim does when he casts!

Goldheads work well too! just bring a selection. The Blagdon lodge sells a few flies, so if there are some that are working particularly well, you should be able to buy them.

Thanks. What sort of nymphs? Booby nymphs, LG! ;D ;D ;D ;D It is hard to say for certain what will be working before we have even wet a line this season but I'm sure the 'locals' will have posted the latest news well before you all arrive. If I had to make prediction for the bank, then I would definitely expect to see Black Boobies and Tadpoles on the list in sizes 8 - 12. Make sure you include an intermediate and fast sinking line as well. Floaters will work, but in my experience while the water is cold you will get more pulls if you fish deep and slow. As for the boats ... I haven't a clue! It will be my first time fishing from a boat on Sunday. In the meantime, if you want a bit more info, look here www.chewvalleyfishing.co.uk/blagdon.html or here www.blagdon-lake.net/Allrounder ;D
