Richard Have a look at www.klm.com/an_en/index.jspor fly to Amsterdam to Edinburgh via Easy Jet and Hire Car [ or arange on route lift ? ] to aberdeen ?? Wednesday 22 February flight 6922; dep. Wed 22 Feb 12:25 arr. Wed 22 Feb 13:00 Sunday 26 February Edinburgh to Amsterdam flight 6921; dep. Sun 26 Feb 11:45 arr. Sun 26 Feb 14:20 www.easyjet.com - cost €95.40 Thanks David. It seems my options are direct to Aberdeen £220 KLM or Edinburgh with EasyJet and car hire. What with the price of car hire they'll cost about the same. Hmmm. Will I need a car from Aberdeen?

I'll be driving up but probably kipping over at my parents in Glasgow the night before to break the journey. I can certainly pick folk up from the airport tho.

It's probably not a bad idea as I don't drink, I could do the pub run for the rest of you.

I am also in for the Thursday, Friday, Saturday if there are any places remaining. This will be my first attempt at Salmon fishing so will require a bit of guidance......
Will also need to buy a rod & reel I guess. Any ideas on what length/weight of rod will be required?

Pond321. 15ft.
Speak to Mick he will advise you.
If its your first trip, I would go spending a fortune until you decide you like it. Its not to everyone's taste.
There will be plenty of kit knocking about to get you set up so that you can have bash.
I wouldnt worry about buying anything yet.
I will have more than enough kit with me to share.

Pond There will be loads of kit for you to try, you just need a pair of Neoprene waders and plenty of warm clothes And ofcourse a 'healthy' supply of some fine whisky. I've got a friend who works for Chivas who own some of the smaller single malt distilleries - will try to get a bottle of something interesting to bring.

Cheers Gents,
Appreciate advice on tackle. Will try to get a couple of casting lessons in before the trip.
Are chest waders out of the question even with several layers?
Mick - I presume you will PM booking details etc?
cheers

Guys,
You will be fine with breathables and a few layers, thats what I use. But Neo's are warmer, assuming they are not leaking.
