All the more amazing given the volumes of alcohol and abundance of Malboro on the Dee!

One must wonder how long it will be before Zyban is available from Carl's website. Or, better yet, a completely safe herbal alternative. . . Grouse

I personlly think ex smokers are the worst. I done it easily they say, liars, I say. The few pleasures I have in life all involve smoking, in fact all pleasures involve smoking. Coffee, T.V,Fishing, Football, could you amagine any without. Ask anybody before they gave up. Then all of a sudden it's easy. I don't think so.

I'm fairly certain that there are millions of people who can not only imagine drinking coffee, watching TV, fishing etc. without smoking but actually do those things on a fairly regular basis without lighting up. They're called non smokers and ex smokers. If you want to keep telling yourself all that nonsense to convince yourself to keep smoking then carry on but don't expect anybody else to believe it.

Thanks oldtrout, reading that nonesense (I used to have a similar view) has reminded me why I never want to smoke again. No it isn't easy, especially at first, nicotine is officially rated as more addictive than heroin and cocaine but if you can get through 3 days then it gets a little easier. As an ex smoker I am not preaching, it is the last thing I would do and if smoking is that important to you then carry on.

Quitting smoking is easy, but only if you really want to.

Grouse He tried that, but some Yankee capitalist had the market sewn up. Zillions of patents worldwide and a suite of fancy New York Lawyers suing the ass off anybody and everybody who had some claim to the product including the widow and orphans of a Haitian medicine man who once picked a leaf from the donor plant. I've advised him to look at getting a franchise for democracy in the Middle East. I reckon it is the latest 'Must Have'.

You're going to do it The book certainly helped me pack it in. I've been a non smoker for just over a month and when I see anyone smoking now I wonder why the hell I used to do it.

I am an ex-smoker of nearly 5 months now and found it quite easy. I did want to stop and set myself a timetable for doing it with cutting down and going to lower tar first. The money for cigs was put to one side for a treat, and has supplied various items including a digital camera.
The biggest surprise is that on quiz nights at our local pub, my team of 6 fishermen does not have an active smoker in it. The ladies team (especially younger ones) all have one or more smokers. So come on 'be a man!' and quit the habit - post budget 20 a day must represent around £1800 a year of after tax money: which should pay for a nice holiday and/or some fantastic tackle.

Into my second week after stopping cold on 40-60 a day.
I have discovered that I only need 2-3 hours sleep a night.
I have been told about the nightmares but they would be welcome.
