You and your boat partner each get your 3 fish on the carron or your 4 fish limit on lake or Leven and bobs your uncle you can agree a catch and release total to make sure you both go through Cynical of me I know but it WILL happen I"m afraid OZ

If what you are saying is true lads ,it is wide open for cheating i just hope you are wrong ,this could lead to a bigger farce than last year, with most venues putting extra stock in the waters to get results on the day a lot of anglers will catch the limit then its down to luck or honesty of the other anglers,Is any SANA committee member looking at forum willing to come forward and tell us whats to happen at each venue on this forum remembering the first prelim is next week;my proposal if this is to happen everybody brings a boatman and boatmen are put in neutral boats so that no cheating goes on

Hi Toshy
If this is the case, I would definately agree with you that the boatmen have to go in neutral boats. Am I being too naive in thinking that it would never happen to have 2 (or 3) cheats in the same boat? I hope to hell not.
Cheers Kenny

Toshy, the only thing about neutral boatmen...... will they work as hard as the boatman you supply ? i know for a fact that if i am boating for the wee man on the Awe i am working like hell to get both guys in the boat to qualify, positioning the boat so both anglers are getting the best drifts possible and covering as much of the best water there is. I dont know if i could do that for total strangers, because at the end of the day they are competing against him, it maybe selfish but it will happen
Anyhow there wont be a problem on the Awe there is no limit on wild fish and there are hardly any rainbows about. Hopefully if i get to Menteith it will be sorted out by then

Outside of the serious comp angler community, it's very difficult to find a boatman who is willing to give up a day's work, or use one of their holidays on those who only have a slim chance of qualifying. Also, if they were then told that they would not be in the boat with their mate, i'd imagine they would pull out. Don't have an answer though.

I boated at the youths national on carron last year, and you are not in the boat with the angler you are representing. you have two strangers and just try to help out if you can. unfortunately i hadnt had much boating experience or of the water. still aidenr from this forum fished his heed aff and caught 4 fish. one of the best bags of the day.
my point is if you go to the lake as a boatman and get put in a nuetral boat, you could end up with someone like jim crawford or wullie leitch who know the lake inside out. they are also gid fishers and could only help your own fishing by watching what they are doing whilst still attending to the boating duties. just a personal point of view.

Hametied. What team are you in or is it individual comps you are talking about. Also I thought from all the advice your handing out you were an experienced Fly-fisher ;D. But you've just said you have little experience boating or fishing

doods, i may have worded it wrong. i have little experience as a boatman or of the venue the boys were fishing. but have done my fair share of fishing. but going to comps and fishing beside some of the better comp regulars can only benefit my fishing. family comitments mean i do not have the time to practice enough to go in for alot of comps.
