Plenty of sewin between one and two pounds coming out according to the pub. I went down to fish having woken up on the sofa after midnight to find the river lower than I'd expected which works well for me normally. I'd only fished for fifteen minutes or so when I felt some resistance as I lifted the line. In the starlight I could make out a shape around the hook which I assumed to be a clump of weed. Bringing the line up through my fingers to clear the hook I nearly dropped the rod in the river when the "weed" moved and snagged my fingers. I was pretty shocked and broke the golden rule by switching the torch straight on to the water to see what the hell was happening. Apparently I must have hooked a bat on the forward cast and there it was on my dropper, teeth glinting in the torchlight....... That was it for me, I took the bat back to the house to unhook it rather than risk a bite, it went ok and I put the little blighter on a bush to dry out. I can't say I waited to see (or cared frankly) if it was alright - I went to bed. Wife strangely unimpressed by exciting tale!
