Platinum X reel problem

Hello there!

My old man's Platinum X is causing a headache in that the reel seat - specifically the gap beneath the handle - is too tight to allow any reel to fit - even my GRX!

Before I send it to Greys for him, has anyone else had this problem or do you think this is a one-off manufacture error, therefore replaceable f.o.c.?

Matt, if i were you i would send it back. Ive got a platinum x and never had a problem. I use my battenkill large arbour, my vision koma, a scierra xda and a grx with it and they all fit nice and snug with no movement at all. Its a 10 ft 7# if thats at all relavant

Have found that some of the 'bargain' rods will only take a graphite - bargain reel?

My plat 'x' takes my okuma no problem atall....send it back methinks
