A while ago, as a result of the good things I'd read on this forum I bought an Esse 7' 6" #4 brook rod from Skinhead [forum member]. Now that I've given it a few outings I thought I'd share my thoughts with you all.
The first thing to say is that doing business with this chap was an absolute pleasure; clear communication, fast delivery & a genuine desire to see that what I'd purchased was exactly what I wanted. He also gave good advise as to which line to purchase to get the most from the rod.
Upon taking delivery I was stunned that I had payed so little for what was evidently a top class rod. It is beautifully finished & was supplied in a cloth bag & good quality tube.
So far I have used the rod on the tight & overgrown Grwyne Fawr & the more open, wider middle Monnow. In both situations, the rod handled admirably & was more than a match for my abilities.
All in all I reckon this purchase to be one of the best I have made in recent years.
