I have done an image showing what i mean. Instead of tying the leader as normal in the top drawing, I tie them as botton drawing shows and find the the dropper`s stand out from the leader and tangle less if at all. i23.photobucket.com/albums/b354/edd2/leadersetup.gifRegards. edd.

I see what you mean edd, your an MS Paint genius!! Do you not find that this is pulling against the knot a bit though?

I sometime put in a half hitch on the fly side of the 3 or 4 turn water knot. This makes the makes the droppers stand out at right angles. I only really use it if im having a "bad dropper" day it generally does help minimise tangles on a windy day. Offset hooks will also spin a little if retrieved and cause unwated turns etc thus making catching the mainline easiler.

Thanks for the diagram edd - got it now! I was always taught that was a no no for the reason billybass mentioned - but if it works for you i might just give it a go!

The hooks shouldnt make any difference..can help to pull the fluro through a pad to ensure its dead straight(both lengths ) before you tie the leader...
