Yes Dave, fair comment, I know it's the same but for some reason they called it graphite in those days. Give me a break - I'm an economist, the only advantage of which is knowing if I'm out of work, why I'm out of work!!! A redundant economist...... surely just a figure of speech? Anyway, is graphite not what they put in pencils?

It's a dismal science at the best of times.
We should get some information on this rod please, since the query was posted openly. I am interested of course because I have a very sweet 7ft version of the same rod. I also now happen to know what year it was made and I think my original valuation for the 9ft version was appropriate.
Out with it gentlemen.

Anybody got a Hardy "jet" ? I think thats what they were called. Built from fibreglass before the days of C. I still use my 7 ft #4. Love it to bits. Birdsnest

I also have a 9'6 6/7 Graphite, also the same as a 9 piece Smuggler. The rum must be ruining your memory.

I have a Hardy Perennial, a seven footer. It’s the Alcea Rosa model I believe, very soft action. Any one know what that’s likely to fetch these days?.

Think I have kept you all waiting long enough for the info now, especially Cothi (patience is a virtue ;D ;D)
The rod was built in 1983 and at the time it was their top of the range rod.
Its full name is actually the Graphite Favourite, but this is usually shortened to Hardy Graphite.
They were only produced for one year in sizes from 71/2 to 91/2 feet.
The action is classed as fairly soft middle
Value? Whatever someone is prepared to pay for it!!! Cracking rods though
If I can help anybody elsse out on info on Hardy tackle just let me know, happy to help
;D ;D

Fair comment Grommit!
Are you sure that the only models were called Favourite - because I think they also did a De-Luxe - that is the rod that Sewinman is referring to above in a 9'6' model - Stillwater De-luxe. I think the 9'3" Smuggler I also bought at that time is a Graphite De-Luxe too? I may be wrong on this.
Re information on Hardy rods. Look above, Diwalbach is asking for some.

There were lots of rods prefixed with Graphite, for example the Graphite Smuggler (produced in 1981 and 1983 depending on the length), the Graphite Salmon (1981-1983) and the Graphite Favourite Salmon (1983 only), along with a range of sea and coarse rods. It was one of the most popular names for their rods in the 80's.
If my memory serves me correctly, I think the De-Luxe was produced around 1985, a little later than the Favourite

If you can send me the ID number off the rod I will see what info I can get for you on it

Hmmm, have to think about that, there's no visible code. I seem to remember that it's an F1 hybrid!
