its taken me a long time to find this forum. ive read so many threads and found them extremely helpful.ive recently taken up fly fishing, and my first visits have been to draycote, with just the two fish to my name.im using a scierra xda 7 weightwith the wind mainly behind me to help, but the rod seems very we.ak to me ,im only able to cast maybe half a 7 weight forward line. im thinking of booking a few casting lessons there to help.do you think its best to keep this rod whilst learning,or is it time to upgrade.ive a new born daughter so my budget would be about a hundred pounds.any thoughts lads.

Welcome, Superskip.
No question about it - get some lessons before changing your rod. £50 spent on lessons is far more useful than £50 spent on gear, and developing a good action will affect what you want anyway.

thanks charlie i think your right.i bought the rod as part of a starter kit a few years ago,and the lines were so full of memory and stiff ,.they were cortland 333. anyway i visited west mids angling and the guy who works on the fly side of things was fantastic a great help. he suggested a pro performance ivory floater at about five quid and it was flying through the rod rings a super cheap line .

Hi and Welcome. P.M Chris who is on this Forum and sells good flies really cheaply I think they work out at about £0.30 a fly which is less than half the price you'd pay in a shop. C.B
