I've been thinking about trying a little tuft of wool as an indicator for upstream nymphing.. Question is, how do you securely attatch such a piece to your cast?
Thanks.

Hi Donnie.
Try using a line gripper, thin piece of tube with a tiny slit in it, thread it over the leader and pull up a small loop of line put the wool in it and pull down, trapping the wool in the gripper job done, hope this makes sence to you , you can make your own with the tubing for a braided loop.

You could try a simple overhand knott where the leader joins the main line. That should work ok

Hi Donnie, Either a clove hitch or the one described on: www.fedflyfishers.org/members/pdf/Knots%20CroppedFinal.pdfThis one is the best as it allows you to tie it in anywhere on the leader and to remove it again easily. Go to Page 27 of the pdf file. This one is the best as it allows you to tie it in anywhere on the leader and take it off again easily by pulling one end of the leader line and the indicator against each other.

The Clove hitch is the one I use with well greased glowbug yarn ,poly propand some soft wools ,a;ll different colours some times one shade shows better than the other .
