I'm new to river fishing and just got a season ticket for the Peeblesshire area of the Tweed. I would appreciate if anyone could give me advice on fishing for trout on the Tweed and decent spots to fish on the Peeblesshire beat. Many thanks Stewart

Hi There,
The Park water in Peebles is popular due to its proximity to the town and the ease with which to access the water.
The fishing is good around here, and I have seen large trout in the pools and in the shallows pretty much all the way up to Manor Bridge and beyond.
I have caught a very nice 3lb grayling on the parkland water. Although there is much to explore upstream from Manor Bridge.
A goldhead nymph cast upstream works for me, and a PTN on the dropper. Light leaders though, 3lbtippet is more than enough.
Tight Lines.

Hi Primarycolours Thanks for the advice, I have looked at the park area and thought that it looked good but a bit busy during the day, I would be keen to hear of any spots you know upsteam of there and if there is decent parking and access. Thanks for the tips about flies, I've been busy tying wee goldhead nymphs as that backs up what I'd been told by a friend who fishes near Cardronna. Stewart

Get OS Map 73, Galashiels and Ettrick Forest. Park at Gd Ref: 315371. Cross the line of the old railway. Fish, carefully, down the stream. As the trees on the far bank end, there is a deep pot. Best of luck.
