Here's the step-by-step for one of my favourite saltwater patterns-The Brooks Blonde. A much under-rated pattern, it's simple to tie and catches fish! I've tied the classic "Honey Blonde", all yellow variant, but you can use whatever colour takes your fancy. Hook: Standard saltwater O'Shaunessy (Daiichi2546, Mustad 34007 etc.) Thread: Danvilles flat-waxed nylon. Tail: Bucktail. Body: Uni mylar (silver) Wing: Bucktail. Step 1:Tie in thread at eye and run down shank until the start of the bend. Step 2:Take a sparse clump of bucktail, twice the length of the hook and tie in along top of the shank (I like to wind the thread in touching turns along the shank to give a neat finish). Step 3:Wrap the body with flat mylar ending about 1/4 shank from the eye and form a small 'bump' of thread. Step 4:Take another sparse clump of bucktail and tie in wing just in front of the 'bump'. You can add some crystal flash at this point if you wish, but I have found this unnecessary. Shape head, whip finish and varnish head.
