my dad is going to Helsinki this august for a conference and i have the opportunity to come with him. I'm thinking of going with a friend and maybe staying at a campsite near a river in close vicinity to Helsinki. could anyone give me some info about fishing in the area. i fished the river glomma and rena in Norway last summer which was amazing, is it similar to Finland.
thanks alot Sean

Due to summer heat and low flows August is generally pretty slow month in Southern Finland with things usually picking up towards September. The geography is very different from Norway, so you'll find conditions like Glomma and Rena about 600 miles farther north. "Close vicinity" fishing would mean about 1 hours drive from Helsinki, unless one considers fishing the highly urbane lower Vantaa river. Some information here: www.fishinfinland.com/I hope I can update the site some of these days...
