A friend has blagged some tickets for this at Birmingham NEC from 3rd to 5th March.
Has anyone been to it before? Any good? Is it worth going?

if there free tickets, it's a day out.
didn't think it was brilliant for the fly fisher. if your into your coarse fishing, carp ect then you might find it OK..

Have never been, but mate went last year and was not impressed at all.He does coarse and game angling.Colleague in Birmingham refuses to go-says it's rubbish. Depending where you are situated, the Show at Thorpe Park is by all accounts very good.

Thanks for the feedback. As the tickets are free I may go along for a day out anyway.

ive been the last 2 years and really like it, not much for the fly fisherman but always find something to pick up there, also il buy alot of carp gear ready for the summer months, meet the famous fisherman, i find it a great day out.

I've attended a few and as mentioned above, the try and cater for everyone. It's usually mad busy first thing in the morning, and then quiet down as the day goes on.
Only thing about the NEC is the price of the car parking! Take plenty of cash!

I've never been but from what I do know when my dad went it's just an excuse to sell fishing gear with a few demo's. I could be wrong but if you live no where near Birmingham then it would probably be better to wait for "Tacklemania" which is a travelling roadshow ie, if you live in Newcastle then Tacklemania will go up there maybe once or even twice a year and you can buy cheap stuff that way.
Having said that as I've never been myself it might be a good day out and an experience. Each to there own I guess.

Mark. Never look a gifthorse........................ That's why I'll probably go. I'm not normally one to turn down something for free. Mind you, car parking is £7

I have been to the last two. Friends I went with to the first one say they will never go again. Price on the door is £13.50 and it is mentioned that parking is £7. Several top names are there but all tackle is top price. I can confirm it is too crowded Saturday AM. The only reason I went last year was to see the demo by Steve Rajjef. Most impressive loops and he made it all look so easy. I had a short word with him and he seemed modest and polite. If you have a free ticket I would recommend you go. But a word of advice. Arrive by train at Birmingham International and walk in. ps. any spare free tickets? Regards, Uskgrub
