Hi there. I have a Sage XP 3 peice (bought secondhand) and the tip section has started to work loose when fishing.
Does anyone know if there is a quick fix for this.
The guarantee stays with the original purchaser so sending it back is out.
Cheers

Lightly rub the male sections with candlewax .

If still works loose with a thin layer of wax then you might try cutting back the female ferrule a little - say 1/4". Don't use an ordinary hacksaw though as this will cause the blank to splinter. A Dremmel ( or similar )cutting disk is the best or file a groove all the way around until the two bits separate. You will then have to replace the whipping - don't assemble and flex the rod without doing so as this could cause the joint to split. Also, don't forget to clean out any dust from the cutting.
Dave.

Thanks for your responses.
I have tried rubbing candlewax on the male section, but this does not resolve the issue.
I do not feel confident in cutting up the rod, as have not done any rod-building before.
Would a thin layer of varnish / hard as nails not do the job?
Was hoping for an easy solution. If not I may have to take it to a rod repairer.
All suggestions welcome.

That stuff worked a treat. Don't know how long it will stay on for though. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I've had four or five outings now and it seems to be holding up well. Recommend it. Have seen another make of it in Sportfish catalogue, but the Maver stuff worked well.
If anyone uses it, it is best to mask the non ferrule part of the rod off, as the spray is a grey matt finish, and could ruin the look of the rod.
