Hi all - have just received new blank and am over the moon. Cant wait to start building. One question though (probably more to follow). I cant get the sections to go together completely. This blank has ferrules and I have only every had put over sections on my other rods.
I am afraid to push too hard until I have wrapped them, but there is about 1cm of space between each section with (what I could consider) moderate pressure. Am I missing something?

One centimetre is not a problem , it allows for wear in the spigot .

As Sandfly wrote, a centimeter is not a problem.
Ferrules never close completely, they are not designed to. Otherwise even slight wear would render the joint useless, and probably cause a rod break.

Thanks for the advice Mick - been involved with building so haven't been on much. I've decided just to do a 1/2 inch wrap over the blank next to the ferrule and leave the ferrule itself unwrapped. This is mostly because I can't be asked to do more at this point. I've spent enough time wrapping and then cutting off and re-wrapping the butt wraps to put me off any unecessary wraps. I think I'm being too picky.
Last night my wife told me that if I spent 'one more minute messing with 'that fecking fly rod' that she would 'poke it up a ducks bum.'
The mental image of her doing that has kept me laughing all day. Of course if she actually did do it - well who knows - it might make for an interesting finish on the ferrule
