Ive a Diawa Lochmor X that got broken about a year ago. The female furral snapped when i dropped it by mistake. Ive tryed filing it down so that it will fit back together but it didn't work. Is there anything i could do to fix it?
Thanks

The easiest and best solution would be to get a replacement section.
It is possible to do a repair by replacing the ferrule but you will need to find a piece of carbon fibre blank with the same taper and diameter as the original and then cut back the broken section and splice in the new piece. This will involve a repair which needs an internal spigot of a slightly thicker walled piece of glass fibre blank and a sleeve of thinner walled glass fibre. If you are used to doing work on rods it's not too hard a job, just needs careful measuring and the usual care when gluing. It will mean that there will be a bulge in the section above the ferrule (where the sleeve is) and this will not look too pretty but the action should not be badly affected.
If you get stuck I could probably do the job for you if you can post the rod to me.
Dave.
