Hi Guys, I have one or two small scratches in my rod that I'd like to fill in. Can I do this myself? If so, what would be the best thing to use to accomplish this? G

Be careful if using T-Cut etc. I've seen loads of rods that have been wrecked by over enthusiastic polishing. The polised areas turning into a lovely matt finish.

Yes, you are correct in saying that T cut will reduce the gloss level on some very glossy finishes if used in a heavy handed way - the chrome polish suggested may have slightly less de-glossing effect.
I would have to disagree that this will "wreck" the rod, although this depends upon personal preference. I don't like a super glossy finish, especially on light line rods, and many of my own rods have been de-glossed with 'Scotchbrite' pan cleaning pads to produce a semi-matt effect. This also has the advantage that light scratches don't really show !!
Dave.
