Hi folks,when i go to apply finish to my guide whipping should i apply some at the end of the whipping under the eye itself?

Yes. You will find that quite a lot will be sucked into the tunnel formed by the thread over the ring foot. It's best to try to get an overlap of 1-2mm onto the blank at each end of the whipping and you might find it is easier to do the ring end before you put the rod in the turner. The other end is easy, just let a few of the brush fibres wander onto the blank as it turns.
Some tips. If you inadvertently end up with too wide an overlap then this can be remedied with a folded paper towel moistened with meths. Just rest it on the turning blank and move it toward the whipping until you have the width of overlap you need. Don't try to 'brush' the finish or you may introduce bubbles, just let it flow from the brush and gently direct it to where you want it to go. Don't put too much on or you will end up with rugby ball shaped whippings ! It's easy to apply another coat next day if necessary - bloody hard to to remove an excess once it's cured.
