what blanks do you suggest for my first attempt at rod building, also what components. i fish mainly for trout in northeast georgia soque, chattahoochee, chattoga

It depends to some extent on what kind and of what level of performance rod you want to build, but for a cheap range of blanks that perform better than the money would indicate, have a look at the Batson 'Forecast' ones. I prefer to use single leg ceramic guides, even on light weight rods, and a lightweight reel seat such as those made by Fuji. For your first rod it would be easier to use a pre-made cork grip rather than making your own from shives.
