Hello,i have seen a little 33rpm motor and was wondering if this would be an o.k. speed to use for applying epoxy finish and also for drying ?

try this site Following on from the epoxy thread below here is a link on how to make your own rotary drier thanks to Davers suggestion I remembered something about his solution... here you go..... globalflyfisher.com/tiebetter/epoxy_rotor/Good luck this came from hongkongstewy, and was about thelittle disco balls you get fronm lidl and aldi jim this from daver Goto Aldi's and buy a disco ball 4.99 comes complete, remove the ball and stick on a round piece of foam and you are sorted. Already pre-cabled and sealed. They work a wee treat cheers DAve if you go to the fly tying section and check out the thread on tying epoxy flies, you'll get more info jim

Like many others, I use a motor removed from an old microwave cooker. This does involve a bit of mains wiring so you have to be careful about isolating this - make sure it's all tucked away inside a casing of some kind. Mine runs at about 7 - 8 rpm which I find ideal for applying and drying epoxy resin on rod whippings.

YGA sell one that doubles as a fly druer for around £25, Stonefly market it and Lureflash I have one, used it for both flys and a rod and it does the job.

I only use the battery Stonefly model for tying epoxy flies not rod building but it comes with chuck and stand for that purpose. Perfectly good for the amateur user like me. Should fit the bill for £25...see the foot of this page www.hopkinsholloway.co.uk/products.php?SID=7&CatID=41

I rigged up a motor and some gears from an old photocopier, using a variable DC bench supply to control the speed. Mated this to a flexcoat chuck
