This is a photo of a brownie I caught on my first trip out to the river (Quoile N. Ireland) earlier in the month, a nice wild fish about 3/4lb caught on a silver spider. Its always nice to get out on the river again Hey Easky, Nice plump brownie mate. I hope you returned it. ;D How is the spring up there on the Quoile is the water temp still pretty cool and is there much life/bug life about the river? Was there a rise of any description? Some of the mountain streams down here in Wicklow are still a little sluggish. A few olives but no rises to speak of. Tghtlines, J.

yes I returned it Joey, I know rrw will be proud of me ;D It starting to heat up a bit with more insect life emerging every day. I went out again on Saturday and got 11, while there wasn't a steady rise I still managed to get about half on an olive parachute. Its still a bit patchy for the dry fly but worth the trip out with the 8.6ft rod E

its not a bad wee river, like everywhere its nowhere near what it used to be like 'hatch wise'. There is a sewage treatment works which I think has something to do with it

Nice one Easky Is the Priest just slightly out of shot... ;D ;D ;D It looks quite plump for this time of year, the fish me and TWP have caught so far have been like Cambodians.

yes surprisingly quite a few of the bigger fish have been quite plump for the time of year unfortunately this one got away as did all the others - the little blitter wriggled free just before I could use the priest ;D

You need to try Joeys technique of drop kicking the fish up the bank, then taking a baseball bat to it....Trout Pate..
