A few shots of being home at Christmas. Nice to share a little of our lives with other forum members. Gives you an idea of who your talking to everyday on the net. This is home in New Zealand, in the North Island, about an hour north of Auckland on the West Coast, called Huia. My family has lived up there for more than a 100 years, and salt water fishing and the surf has been in the blood since my first day on the planet. Looking out from the view on the deck out towards the mouth of the harbour is where we go SWFF in a 30 foot open fibreglass Dory, with a 90 horse power Mariner engine. Species include: Kingfish, Snapper, Travelly, Kahawai, Albacore and if you go out far enouph Marlin and Tuna. The area is steeped in history, from the days of the Gum Diggers and the Maori fishing canoes. The whole of Huia is a forest reserve, and some of the trees behind the pole house, called 'Kauri trees' are more than a thousand years old. Hope to have the kids back there one day, and it's always a place where travelling fishermen are welcomed with a cold beer, good craic and a seat at the make-shift bar, after a day of sun burnt angling. View from the deck at Twilight During the day, nice back drop for a glass of white, fresh fish and oysters. Oldman and me on the tractor 'max', ugly old buggar. Cheers, J.

I'm definitely goin to have to make a trip across the straits and visit the NI. We're starting to see snow on the alps down here. At least the bows are starting to spawn and it'll soon be doll flies and whirring reels. brrrr
