This is a Broonie I caught today on a Kate McLaren at my local club water , Hillend Loch. North Lanarkshire.

I reckon about a pound and a half. Caught it in the school burn area if know where that is. I usually fish in the early evening after all the power bait chuckers are gone. Today I just had to put up with them.

I dinnae eat them, I enjoy adding them to my photo album. I give them away. This one was kept in the family though and went to ma faither who is partial to a trout for his dinner.

i'm not sure if float tubes are allowed but you can hire a boat if you wish. I will find out about floattubes for you this week.

My first ever days trout fishing was on Hillend with my cousin fishing worms and maggots under a bubble float. I was totally blown away with it all and this fed my hunger to get better at fishing. From there it was a natural progression to fly fishing. These any-method fisheries, whether we like them or not, are often how the youngsters - the future of our great pastime - are introduced to fishing. A vital resource if you ask me. Dougie

well put dougie. by the way, charlie has his dates for the national. maybe we can all get up together to the lake when he is having a practice. if not we will still get up to carron for a sesh
