was at witton castle on the 27th.. basically my last cast of the day...cast a couple of times with a cats..and as it was REALLY windy I ended up with the line not being totally straight..and as the lure hit the water...twice a fish snatched at in the the surface and I missed the takes as there was too much slack in the line
any way I had a sit down for a few minutes had a biccie and a cup of tea..then tried again in roughly the same spot and luckily it came back again just as it hit the surface..this time I was ready...hooked up and away it went......it seemed like an age to get it in..my arm was aching and I was on 8lb leader (to be safe I thought)...weighed in at 10 and a half...I was knackered and slightly stunned to be honest..my biggest previously had been just on 6 pounds

Crackin fish jim. I was fishing Witton Castle on Sturday. When i arrived it was flat calm but when i left it was like being in tyhe middle of the North sea. The wind was torture. Managed 2 fish. Got lots of hookups but nothing solid that hung on. Lot of fish seemed to be intersted in my Flashback Hares ear as i was getting a knock nearly every cast. Just one of them days i think. Smudge

Nice fish Gingernick, I've been fishing for nearly 20 years and never had a double. Well done.
One day, one day I say.
Having said that, first season pike fishing this last winter and had a 10 3/4 secod trip. Piking is an easy lark!!
Piscator
PS Blanked the next two trips!!
