Yes I'm the cause of the problem! I have fished with Steffan in Russia before as a client and he asked if I wanted to go at the reduced price..............I couldn't but wrongly thought being a serious fly fishing forum you would appreciate knowing about a special offer.............seems I was wrong! Fortunately a couple of forum members did appreciate this and booked up and got a great deal for themselves...so they must be happy.....Looks like the threads have now been put where the critics want them so maybe now everyone wins and I have learnt my lesson. I apologise to those who are upset and lets move on.

Maybe its just old age but this used to be my first point of call after doing the email thingy ,now its ~ 4/8 on my list of forums to visit ,there have been some simply horrid goings on here that I dont think reflect well on the spirit of Angling .I have stomped of in the past and become a lurker ,tempted to tiptoe of and do the same now ,except there is so much good stuff in amongst the mines bigger than yours dross which p's of so much . Well of to lurk in less murky boards !

I see we now have a Market Place. I have a last minute offer and wanted to post it on Last Minute Trips section. It could have benefited Forum members. I am not allowed to. Why is that? Why should I have to email someone called Simon before doing so. Who is he? Who voted him in? Why is he the arbiter? Is this so that he gets a commission on each offer?
Please do not respond to this by telling me who he is............

Yep - I'm all for the new section - but please make it open for all to post on otherwise it'll run counter to the ethos of the board...
The reason this oh-so-maligned board still keeps pulling 'em in (even those that swore to never return) is because there are some dedicated and altruistic anglers on here, some good craic, and feck all moderation by some poorly equipped moron with too much time on his / her hands.
Let's face it, who here could have confidence on any other poster to have 100% alignment with their personal preference when it comes to censorship?
<HINT if you have a name to the answer above you are given to fits of absurd contradiction and stubbornness>

I find it odd that certain individuals object to the commercial content of parts of the forum when at the same time they use their presence here to further their own enterprise, directly or indirectly.

Well said Rob!
There is no doubt a few egos require gentle deflation, the self importance of some individuals is laughable particularly when they hot link into their own enterprises.
