Hooks arrived thanks Jan, they look just the job and they have an eye you can thread line through unlike some I've tried. I don't know whether to thank you or curse you for the fly though. I thought my Czech nymphs were getting better, then Jan sends me a perfect one tied on a #16

These are awesome hooks for C&R fishing and been one of the best kept secrets on the World/European match scene for some time.
The shape of the hook point somehow (dont ask me about the physics of it, I am a fisherman not a scientist) allows you land a much higher % of fish hooked than with normal debarbed hooks.
Not being one for believing hype I decided to see how good these hooks are.
I went to a heavily stocked small water to test the hooks in a head to head...............2 experienced C&R anglers, stood side by side, identical rods, lines tippet & setup. The same pattern was then fished on the Knapeks and my normal stillwater heavy nymph hook (ok it was a B175, debarbed) the results , for me were spectacular. I hooked , in a day 70 fish(not bragging here, remember we are testing the hook capabilities from a match anglers perspective) and lost only 2. My partner hooked into 62 and managed to lose 19, for me this was a result and quite conclusive. I even tried to "lose" the fish whilst in play by throwing slack line, they wouldnt come off !.
At this moment in time, if the Knapek range covers all the hook patterns I require , i am considering junking barbed hooks altogether, they are that good.
I found that even if the hooks are slightly "gaped" (I caught Rainbows to 8lb 10oz that day) they still work well, and no , the hook points are not so long that they could penetrate too deeply into the fish and cause organ damage ( To check this I asked the fishery owner a week later if they had any casualties, I actually did ask for permission to test these hooks beforehand).
The opinions expressed above are my own, they are not biased by free product or financial incentive as is the case with any tackle reviews I have done for Trout Fisherman magazine or any other publication.
They are now available in the UK

Nick,
That sounds very interesting. Are these hooks just as easy to remove from the fish's mouth as normal barbless/de-barbed hooks?

Hi Mark The fish just dont seem to fall off. Even when I was stood in the water and bringing fish to hand, what you tend to do is hold the tippet and the fish will thrash about, they usually fall off so you dont have to handle them. Not the case with the Knapek's, I had to gently hold the fish and remove the hook, they dont seem to fall out. Cracking innovation, Nick
