I thought Graham Pearson won it last year ?
I fished and landed 6 fish for 15th place, quite hard going but a class field.

the bob church is an invitatation only comp,mr church invites who he wants, what's your problem, this does not get you points for internationals ,this is a nice comp with a piss up,no big deal, and they can invite who they like.

the problem is Jim the invitations state that it is for people who have acheived something in the previous year, ie brown bowl winners, the leven flycasters who won the anglian etc..
I am saying no more.....

The Classic as it was known, used to be a great competition. Now its lost its way. No longer are the Top UK anglers invited and, even those who deserve to be there dont get a look in.... Maybe theres no room? Micky Mouse Comp some say.

Something along these lines were said at the competitions A.G.M it was just like the Tynant and nothing to do with them. So if someone gets the invitation to invite a team its up to them who they invite.

You certainly do Jim , just repeating what they said at the AGM. Its up to the guy who gets the invite to ask people to go. They dont have to go by any selection format.

Camshy,
that is not entirly true, there is supposed to be a selection process and it is stated on the invitation form, when I never got an invite Nicola Church told me that I could not have done enough to earn and invite, that year I won a Gold Medal, qualified for both Internationals the following year and won the Brown Bowl could not do much more. Long Pause on the telephone and I will call you back.
I would like to think I have earned my single invite over the last 6 years with 8 caps a brown bowl, captaincy and now my river cap.
Rgds...Dave
