I have been asked to fish a Police qualifier competition on Draycote water in April.
I have been fly fishing for some years now, but i have no experience whatsoever in competitions and 'international' rules.
Any tips on flies, lines etc for the competition, will i need to buy a drogue?
Thanks in advance.

Hoppy, At that time of year you will need a variety of lines and flies. If there is a lightish breeze then a good approach would be a floating line with long leader and team of heavy buzzers (epoxy). Remember in International Rules you cannot weight your flies with lead or beads and they must be size 10 max with dressing no longer than 15/16 inch. If its blowy you will need a drogue and may have to get down quite deep with a fast sinking line (DI5 or DI7) with mini lures (orange blob or black and green viva or a booby). Give Keith at the lodge a ring as he is always very helpful Good luck Ian
