Well done to Kingennie and Jim Crawford. Is there anyone out there that can give the Scots a run for their money? (Only kidding I have seen the bad times.)
I had heard that the prize for the winners is an afternoon on the Test, but you have to make your own way there and provide accomodation. Bit of a journey from Dundee just for that!
At the TFEO Individual final the top ten received a 7 foot, 3 weight fly rod, line and reel. I am curious to know if the winners were lucky enough to get the same in the team event.

I was there..not easy for some believe me... as for cheating alegations.... not sure on that one, yes, it could have been open to abuse and I did comment to my partners on both days, Nigel & Tam, that it should have been policed because of the C&R rule... I never saw nor heard of 'any' fly checks!! .. BTW, I am not suggesting anyone broke any rules on either day.

Marble, the prizes for the TFEO team and individual comps. What a bloody farce. Most, if not all the entrants are seasoned competition stillwater flyfishermen. A hell of a lot of the guys think the prizes are a rip-off. Fishing on the Test, a 7ft 3# rod. At least give them prizes they can use and enjoy. What do other competition fishers on the forum think would be suitable prizes? We could maybe let John Horsey know where he,s going wrong. I think the Anglian Fulling Mill comp is definately THE best comp in the UK at present. Cheers, piscator

I suggest a back to basics format. A big trophy, with 6 small replicas and a fleece or sweater with a clearly embroidered recognition of the accolade. This would result in greatly reduced fees and reinstall the prestige which used to play such a huge part in these events. Who knows, we might then return to the days when Clubs would willingly sponsor their anglers. Bugsy Would it work?........d**n right it would...........there is no greater ego than that of a comp. fisherman

we all want to fish for our country which in the end you are fishing for a medal and pride. No prizes involved. Busgy you are right back to basics, a winner cheque which covers the fees etc.. or the way it used to be the final was free. A car is no used to me nor is a single day on the test. Bring back the Perigrine and the old Hardy they were excellent competitions or even the Benson & Hedges style where the clubs organise their prelim rounds on their own at a local venue of thier choice, the final at a choosen venue to get the the International final. Its all about the win, not the prizes. I never did get a B&H jumper was too young to fish in that comp Darn Cheers dave

You know what is required..... why not organise a 'properly fair' team comp for the anglers and not an 'organisers' bank account?? A 'No Bungs' comp .. and I may help out!

i for one will not enter any tfeo next year i didnt like having to be in the individual to practice for the team, i also dont like that results take that long to be put up on the website, and you have to pay £35 everytime you enter (rip off)
lets have like said winning fleeces for winning team and qualifiers should get to fish the final free as money has to be made by block booking the boats as well so money is made still from every round.
I know lots of teams that wont be in it next year for these reasons

PLG I totally agree with you i heard a lot of talking after the meal ,how much it cost to enter the Lexus ,Not even a bag to put your fish in ,no free nylon,no free lines what a joke ,things will have to change or the Comp will go pear shaped,Iwould like to see the total income from heats and final and then what it all cost to run,and see how much PROFIT goes to whoever Captain as to the cheating ,I was saying it was wide open to abuse and agree with you the policing was not carried out in any way,I think going back to the old ways of running the comps is a great idea ,i hope someone takes you up on your offer Captain to help run the Comp you would be an asset to any one Cheers Toshy
