I was there and prior to going I hadn't really heard too many good tales of the river. As I hadn't fished the river before I was apprehensive. However the practice proved two things. One, the beats were very long and one required some climbing skills to get out of the water and couldn't be covered fishing in a day session. Two, there are plenty of fish. Many are small but in practice I had a Grayling well over 40cm and a few good sized Browns and a sea trout. The water levels and clarity were overall good but did rise a bit with even a small amount of rain. The clarity changed as well. A digger working on a weir on beat A didn't help too much either. Most methods worked and the anglers returned 606 fish which is an average of 18.94 per man!! That is quite a haul. I finished in 21st place and take my hat off to the lads who qualified ,all great anglers. John Tyzack took the title again, the third time underlining his supremecy in this event. Tony Curtis has to be the pick of the bunch as he was the only angler that qualified out of the north area. Never the less it was a good event and an experience for me.

I know this was posted a while back but what the hell :DIf fish the beat that the comp was on regualy. I would have said that graying that you caught would have been just down from wadsworth. Ive also had 25 browns in 2 hrs out of the weir pool beat on a Muddler. None of them looked to be under 1 lb and one of them looked to be over 2lb good river
