Here is a link i found of one hell of a fly tyer It takes time to load up with a dial up, the web designers didnt do a great job with compression www.danica.com/FLYTIER/aconba/aconba.htmits funny too that they try to protect there pics when you can just screen shot the lot of them anyway lol I have been lucky to buy and see flies being made by Alice and i have never seen better flies done with such ease Click the pics to get the makings

Sheesh there's no pleasing some people, one of the best flytying sites on the net, with fantastic quality pictures and you complain about it I'm quite sure that Hans won't mind you taking screenshots from his website for your own reference, I would think the protection is to discourage plagiarism, but as he posts on here (flytier) it might be prudent to ask him. And yes she is a very good fly tyer ;D

stylie,
Glad you appreciate good quality flies.
As to your other comments: If I really wanted to 'protect' the images, I would hardly post them to the net, now would I? The message you are referring to is appealing to common courtesy. You are familiar with the process?
On 'compression', I am sure you can do a much better job. Perhaps you can point us to your web site? I would be most interested to be impressed with what you have provided to the tying community.
Have a nice day.

Beautiful flies, wonderfully tied. A real ispiration. They look too good to fish and should be for display use only.

And yes she is a very good fly tyer ;D I didnt complain about the flies or the site,,,i pointed that it will take time to load up on a dial up and i think the compression could have been tighter with out losing the good quality,,,and where did i say i was keeping screen shots hmmmm??? I pointed out that there is no point protecting pics that way when they can be captured with screen shots and edited stylie, Glad you appreciate good quality flies. Hans W A lot of sarcasim thnks, to answer your question on websites, i do make a lot of internal web pages on LAN's for companies. Usually they act as a web interface for their databases for example writing code to generate charts dynamically on different data inputs so my websites are just interfaces really on LAN's not available on the net. And besides i dont have many images on them,,,but i do feel after years in IT that the compression could have been smaller with out losing the quality,,which makes it easier for dial-ups. The message you are referring to is appealing to common courtesy. You are familiar with the process? I dont think there was any need for that, what the hell did i do but just point out that people will screen shot it anyway

stylie,
We can agree to disagree, m'friend. You consider 75-100KB per large size image or 10-13KB for a thumbnail too substantial, I consider it a good balance between download time and the quality I wish to present.
The sarcasm started in your initial post, and I fear I got sucked into it to the same level. For the latter I apologize to the forum members.
The contributions of Alice, and the other close to 200 other fine tiers from all corners of this globe, to the web site are way too valuable to be diminished by this quibbling. I will let their flies, and my representation of them, take the floor.
Cheers, Hans W

I first met Alice some 10 years ago when she had a studio in Cair. I was amazed then at the quality of her fly dressing and I still am. And get this, I have heard tell that some of her fellow professional fly dressers look down on her because she does not fish. I cant understand that. She tells me that her father taught her when she was a girl and at one time Alice had cir.30 tyers working for her. Today her flys go all round the world and grace the walls of presidents and statesmen. Long may she be at the end of that road to Tipperary. Rod.
