Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy Collins hackles in the UK?
Failing that, is it ok to order them in from the States? (customs etc).
Thanks Ian

Thanks for that.
I've seen Collins hackles in a few magazine articles and they always looked good to me.

It's the colours and markings that I like the look of.
Always hit 'n' miss buying mail order though and there would be quite a lot of chance involved in what I got.

Flies I tie tend to be 14 - 20 so probably a neck or possibly a saddle if the feathers are small.
Like the look of the Crees, Barrs and Badgers etc
I think one of the magazines (T&S?) did a write up on Collins which had pictures of many of the capes. Some of the capes got pictured in FF&FT in June 05. Need to dig the T&S article out before I ordered.

i have a 'barred dun variant cape' from them which basically means it has a little of everything. mostly grizzle in various guises. i think that ebay uk guy i listed still has some. would recommend this particular cape. ive used mine to death for palmering. was less than £10 if i recall
also have a light brown saddle from them which is not so good
not sure how good these saddles would be for 14s and smaller

Not ideal buying things like that mail order but I don't lnow a supplier that stocks lots of the very expensive capes that I can pick though.
