Hi guys,
I've searched the forum for some help on this but can't seem to find anything helpful.
Does anyone here fish the Taff Fechan in Brecon/Pontsticill, South Wales??
I plan to make my first river outing tomorrow, so did a bit of reconnaissance tonight.
Does anyone know any good beats there? And, where to park?
I did find one place, just behind the Aberglais pub, but the casting will be a little difficult because of all the overhanging trees.
Otherwise I might try the stretch of Taff running through Troedyrhiw just down from Merthyr Tydfil, or, the stretch running under Lines bridge actually in Merthyr.
Any help/tips will be MUCH appreciated!
Gareth

The Taf Fechan is sush a beautiful river, I'm dieing to fish it properly (this time I'll hopefully NOT lose 8 flies to the trees!).

I've trawled back over my old copies of T&S, TFF and FF&FT without success which probably means that it was in Trout Fisherman and I usually chuck those or pass them on to the son of a friend who is keen on fly fishing.
I'll keep looking but it might be worth you checking other sources as it was 100% for sure featured in one of the mags sometime since the end of last season.

I think that you may be referring to a Jon Beer article in T&S. Was more than a few months ago - I gave up on the monthlies a while ago. From memory he fished with one of the chaps who works at Tightlines.
Of course I may be totally wrong, in which case ignore the above!
Cheers,
Ben

The article was definitely in Trout & Salmon.

There's an article entitled Paradise Regained by Pat O'Reilly in last September's FF&FT that deals with the rebirth of the Taf Fechan. A feature in the previous month's magazine concentrates on the main stem of the river. I'm not sure if this will be of much help if you're after advice on specific locations though.
