Dear All
This email is dedicated to those persons who like to make some fishing trip to some "wild" east country like Poland.
I can tell you only about situation in southern Poland I know quite well. In general we have many nice river for both grayling and trout fishing. Unfortunately the owners of rivers seem to be more interested in collecting incomings than in taking care about fish population. The results of this kind of sick politic is below:
Czarny Dunajec – many small graylings and trout , up to 30cm long. Nice for having fun but not for adventure.
Bialy Dunajec – some (just by accident I would say) BIG trout just after the “snow water” in the spring.
Dunajec from Nowy Targ to Czorsztyn – no problem to catch small grayling and trout but nothing more.
Dunajec from Czorszyn to Golkowice – population of grayling ant trout very small. Almost empty river – do not waste your time to go there for fishing. Population recovery in progress. Well you can enjoy the landscape especially between Czorszcztyn and Sromowce Nizne. Nice view on Tatra Mountains. You can try trekking in Trzy Korony and Sokolica. There is also very beautiful footpath connecting Szczawnica and Czerwony Klasztor (Slovakia) giving you beautiful view on Dunajec river crossing the Pieniny National Park. Nice place to take girlfriend
Bialka – nice river, 10-15 years ego I used to spend my holidays near that rive. There were beautiful trout , nice grayling , crystal water …. Now , just memories…. forget.
Raba – Pcim and up and down parts are good in spring for rainbow trout fishing but grayling, trout occasionally in my opinion. The owner of that part of Raba river is mr. Jelenski.
Raba below Dobczyce dam - poor.
Skawa – poor and waste of time. It used to be nice river.
San – unfortunately far from Krakow (we live there) but if you seriously thing about fly fishing in he southern Poland go there for a few days. You will enjoy both fishing ad landscapes. Daily licence around 20 Euro. No motorway to get there. You can see some pictures from San on our webpage:
www.lancs.ac.uk/postgrad/koziel/index.htm
...and some more if you ask me to send them We are not the owner of that river but sometimes we guide people.
Kind regards
Andrzej & Michal Koziel
