Hi Folks, Fished the River Colne In West Yorkshire today and Friday and despite a high water level it was running clear. Good hatches of LDO's with fishing rising to them well, managed a few on a dry (Easy-peasy upside down dun) when it wasn't raining, but had much more success on a Waterhen Bloa fished either upstream (hard work with the wind and rain coming straight down at me) or across and down, quite a few taking it on the dangle. To be honest I think the recent mild weather after a long winter has really put all the fish on the feed and any method would have worked, I think I might have to get a day off work this week and make the most of it while it lasts.

Hi Mick, has the polluted length at Huddersfield come back on form?

No Clive - it hasn't!! Not a sign of even a midge over the water.

Hi Folks,
Managed to get away from work again today and had a red letter day on the Colne despite the snow showers.
I started fishing at midday with the nymph but didn't seem to be getting much joy in the streamier parts so moved on to an area of flatish water and saw a number of fish rising and taking the LDO's that were hatching right off the surface. So on with the dry fly. While at the British Flyfair in November I was shown by Roy Christie how to tie his Easy-peasy upside down dun and so after tying a load of these up over the winter I was looking forwarded tieing one on and seeing what the wild brownies would think of it.
Not bad at all was the answer, I managed over 20 brownies in 4 hours with the best being around 18" with a nice thick middle, all coming to an olive coloured Easy-peasy! I know this was the only second time out for this fly for me but it is inspiring a lot of confidence.
I caught all the fish in the flatter pools just as the current tongue was starting to run out, I suppose the fish are still building themselves up after the winter before moving into the faster water.
Tightlines
