Girlfriend has booked us a few days in a cottage near Chard in Somerset for a few days at Easter. Does anybody know of any day ticket river fishing in the area?
Cheers

Hi All, Can anybody point me in rthe direction of the nearest freindly tackle shop near to Chard. I thought I'd try my luck at getting some day tickets for the Axe or any surrounding rivers/streams.
Cheers

Hi, Topp Tackle in Taunton is the best in the area. There is a chap who works parttime there that only fishes rivers and he will help. Taunton is about 12 miles from chard and is the county town of Somerset and is where jamiet and myself live. Tobym

Andy, Did tjs not sort you out? There is not much day ticket river trout fishing in the area but there is a stretch of the Axe at Axminster which is worth a look, drop me a PM if you want to know more. As WCB said the nearest tackle shop is Topp tackle in Taunton, ask for Richard.

Seriously although there are trout in the upper Parrett it can not be considered a fly fishery. The banks are all high and vertical and almost completely covered in brambles, withys and electric fences. The stock of trout is also very small as there is almost no suitable spawning habitat. I have had some nice fish out of it on worm and plug Tight lines Andy
