Hi Fished Saturday 28th - the may fly are still hatching - although mostly in the cool of the evening. The recent rain freshened up the river and it fished well. I had nine fish(including 3 salmon parr - somebody should tell them to swim downstream from where they were stocked below Ashbourne - the 1st was nearly a pound). The succesful flies were goldheaded GRHE -2 ;grey klinkhammer -2 ;olive klinkhammer - 3 ; grey partridge mayfly - 2. A trout was rising under the bridge partly covered by trees at the end of the day. The wind blowing across into trees on the other bank was making the 20-25 yd cast with a 7 ft rod even more tricky. I lost 4 flies on the trees and rested the fish 4 times but finally C & R a lovely wild 1 1/4 lb trout , after about 1 1/2 hrs I went home happy A good day cheers Ali G aka Lugg
