In my opinion you wouldn't go wrong with a Diawa Wilderness for £65 (or £79.99 with reel and floating line) from Newmill Trout (look it up in Google). They are RRP £79.99 - don't know how Newmill do them so cheap.
The only problem is that if you are a novice flyfisherman, you may want to look for a rod with a more forgiving action- these rods are fairly stiff and timing of casting is important.
Someone else may adviseyou of another less forgiving rod.
Cheers John

I think reveryone on here might give a different answer for a variety of reasons, some of which have been covered.
The length line weight and action all play a part, with the individuals quirks counting for a lot. The application, River, Reservoir or small stillwater come into the equation: length of rod produces a trade off on casting - so whilst a longer rod should make longer casts possible, the reality point to something in the 9' to 9' 6'' length. How many section to the blank will depend upon the need for portabilty etc. For Rivers a shorter rod and lighter weight would be the norm. Reservoir bank fishing would normally suggest the 8wt in 9'6''+. For smaller stillwaters a 6wt is probably the best bet.
As it will be you that is using the rod get along to somwhere like Sportfish at Theale - where they have an area onto a lake where you can try a cast or two. The other option is to look for a fantastic bargain on eBay for something like a Loomis IMX (old model top of line rod) often changing hands for £100 or below.
