hi,im off fishing tomorrow evening,and it is going to rain,i hear it can be good fishing,with the fish rising to drowning flies in the surface film,what tactics should i employ for stillwater???

Hope this gets to you in time. My experience is that rain is not good for fishing, but the first 10 minutes or so after the rain stops can be spectacular.
I have no idea why this is, but it may be to do with the sudden addition of oxygen into the water I suppose, but who cares. I always make sure I have a fly in/on the water after rainfall, and it often works.

On the Corrib at least after a heavy downpour the fish will come up to the top for awhile. During the downpour forget it, unless its the height of the mayfly it will drive them down. But after it ? with drowned flies a lower surface temperture and added oxygenation its a good time to catch a few trout
